Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Morales Family. Out of respect for the family, we are posting this message from the Chancellor and information on the memorial fund:
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
It is with sorrow that I write to inform you of the tragic death of SU student Jason Morales, a senior in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. Jason was struck and killed by a car in New York City last night.
Jason was in New York City completing his Senior Capstone project and interning with the athletics department at St. John’s University. Originally from Brooklyn, Jason was a member of the Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity where he once served as Social Chair. Jason’ s fraternity brothers describe him as someone who had incredible perseverance and was not afraid to try new things. He was a friend to all.
During this very difficult time our thoughts are with Jason’s family, friends, colleagues, and the faculty and staff who knew him.
The loss of a member of the campus community is painful for all of us, and everyone is affected differently. The University has a broad array of counseling services available to the campus community. The Counseling Center may be reached at 443-4715 and Hendricks Chapel at 443-2901, along with the Faculty-Staff Assistance Program at 443-1087.
A time to gather on campus to remember Jason will be planned for a future date.
